  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Cheese grater

Ingredients

  • For the Pasta:

  • 1 tablespoon salt for boiling water
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • For the Creamy Sauce:
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 ½ cups heavy cream or whole milk for a lighter version
  • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional for spice
  • ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ¼ cup pasta water reserved from boiling
  • For Garnishing:
  • ¼ cup fresh basil or parsley chopped
  • Extra grated parmesan cheese
  • Drizzle of olive oil

Instructions

  • Cook the Pasta:
  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add salt and penne pasta.
  • Cook according to package instructions (usually 10-12 minutes) until al dente.
  • Reserve ¼ cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and toss with olive oil to prevent sticking.
  • Make the Creamy Garlic Sauce:
  • In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat.
  • Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Pour in heavy cream, stirring constantly. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes to thicken slightly.
  • Add grated parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, red pepper flakes, and Italian seasoning. Stir until smooth.
  • Combine Pasta and Sauce:
  • Add the cooked penne pasta to the skillet with the sauce.
  • Toss everything together, ensuring the pasta is well coated.
  • If needed, add a little pasta water to loosen the sauce.
  • Serve & Garnish:
  • Remove from heat and top with fresh basil or parsley.
  • Sprinkle extra parmesan cheese and drizzle olive oil for added flavor.
  • Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

For extra protein, add grilled chicken, shrimp, or tofu.
Substitute milk for heavy cream to make a lighter version.
For a spicy kick, increase the red pepper flakes.
This pasta pairs well with garlic bread, roasted veggies, or a fresh salad.
