Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls – Crispy, Cheesy, & Irresistible Snack

These Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls are a delicious fusion of classic Philly cheesesteak flavors wrapped in a crispy egg roll shell. Filled with tender ribeye steak, melted cheese, and sautéed onions, then fried (or baked) to perfection, they make the ultimate appetizer, party snack, or game-day treat. Ingredients
  

  • For the Filling:
  • 1 lb ribeye steak thinly sliced (or sirloin, flank steak)
  • 1 small onion finely diced
  • 1 small green bell pepper finely diced (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup provolone cheese shredded (or American cheese, Cheez Whiz)
  • For the Egg Rolls:
  • 12 egg roll wrappers
  • 1 beaten egg or water for sealing
  • Vegetable oil for frying if frying
  • For Dipping Optional:
  • Cheese sauce
  • Spicy mayo
  • Ranch dressing
  • BBQ sauce

Instructions
 

  • Step 1: Cook the Steak & Vegetables
  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of oil.
  • Add diced onions and bell peppers (if using). Sauté for 3-4 minutes until soft.
  • Push the veggies aside and add thinly sliced steak to the skillet.
  • Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Cook for 3-4 minutes until browned, then mix in the sautéed veggies.
  • Reduce heat to low and stir in shredded provolone or American cheese. Let melt and mix well.
  • Remove from heat and let the filling cool slightly before assembling egg rolls.
  • Step 2: Assemble the Egg Rolls
  • Place one egg roll wrapper on a clean surface in a diamond shape (one corner pointing toward you).
  • Add 2 tablespoons of cheesesteak filling in the center.
  • Fold the bottom corner up over the filling, then fold in the sides.
  • Roll tightly, sealing the top edge with water or beaten egg.
  • Repeat until all egg rolls are assembled.
  • Step 3: Cooking Options
  • Option 1: Deep Frying (Crispiest Method)
  • Heat 2-3 inches of vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
  • Fry egg rolls in batches for 3-4 minutes, flipping until golden brown.
  • Remove and drain on paper towels.
  • Option 2: Baking (Healthier Option)
  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Place egg rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Brush lightly with oil or cooking spray.
  • Bake for 18-20 minutes, flipping halfway.
  • Option 3: Air Frying (Crispy & Healthy)
  • Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  • Lightly spray egg rolls with oil and place in a single layer.
  • Air fry for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway.
  • Step 4: Serve & Enjoy!
  • Let the egg rolls cool slightly before serving.
  • Serve with cheese sauce, ranch, or spicy mayo for dipping.

Notes

✔ For extra crunch, fry twice! Fry once lightly, let cool, then refry for 1 minute.
✔ Want to make ahead? Freeze uncooked egg rolls for up to 3 months and fry straight from frozen.
✔ Prefer spice? Add sliced jalapeños or hot sauce to the filling.
