  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 1 ¼ cups warm water about 110°F or 45°C
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 can 15 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon sugar optional, to balance acidity
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes optional, for a little heat
  • For the Cheese:
  • 1 ½ to 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup Parmesan cheese optional
  • ½ cup feta or goat cheese optional for extra flavor
  • For the Vegetable Toppings:
  • ½ cup sliced bell peppers red, green, yellow
  • ½ cup sliced mushrooms
  • ½ cup sliced red onions
  • ¼ cup black olives sliced
  • ½ cup cherry tomatoes halved
  • 1 cup fresh spinach optional
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning optional for extra flavor
  • Optional Toppings:
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Crushed red pepper flakes
  • Drizzle of olive oil

Instructions

  • Prepare the Dough:
  • In a small bowl, mix warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
  • In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until dough begins to form.
  • Transfer to a floured surface and knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  • Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let rise for 1–2 hours until doubled in size.
  • Make the Sauce:
  • Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds.
  • Add crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, pepper, and sugar. Stir well and let simmer for 10–15 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  • Preheat the Oven:
  • Preheat oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven while preheating.
  • Roll Out the Dough:
  • Punch down the risen dough and place it on a floured surface.
  • Roll it out into a 12–14 inch circle and transfer it to a pizza pan or baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Assemble the Pizza:
  • Spread ½ to ¾ cup of pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a ½-inch border for the crust.
  • Sprinkle mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce.
  • Arrange vegetable toppings on top. Avoid overcrowding to prevent sogginess.
  • Bake the Pizza:
  • Place the pizza in the preheated oven.
  • Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the crust is golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes before slicing.
  • Serve and Enjoy:
  • Garnish with fresh basil, a drizzle of olive oil, or red pepper flakes if desired.
  • Slice and serve warm. Enjoy your homemade veggie pizza!
